Quick Hits...

Howdy, Howdy Cooke County...yes, that's my weak tagline at the top of every hour now. I got nothin'.

Sipping on my 2nd OJ and Parrot Bay of the night...more Parrot Bay than OJ...does that make me an alcoholic? I don't know that there's a name for OJ and coconut rum, so I think I'm going to start calling it Nicole Brown Simpson's Last Tropical Vacation. Maybe I'm just trying too hard on that one.

To steal a line from Dearing...I'm not gonna lie, it's been a pretty good week. Even though I'm barely working 5 hours a day, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I just feel like I'm finally starting to get going in the direction I need to be in. And it's nice to have that feeling for once. I even feel like I'm getting things done at KPFC even though I'm only there 2 days a week. Next stop on the Justin Winters Radio Station Tour: KHYI-FM...or the UK(?).

I've been thinking about looking for a temporary radio gig at a UK radio station...perhaps in London or Manchester. I could be the token American with a Texas accent. You can't tell me that wouldn't be sweet.

I think I could make it in the UK. I've been watching lots of football on TV lately. I'm watching Manchester United v. Manchester City on Fox Sports World right now. I've developed a little bit of a liking for English Premeirship League Football and rugby. Hooray for expanded cable channels. More reason for me to want to go to England.

This weekend is a home weekend for North Texas basketball and football...and I have to miss it. Grrrrr... I have to be the 'on-site contact' all weekend at Camp Sweeney for a men's retreat for Denton Bible Church. It went ok last year...really nice people, easy to deal with, plenty of KPFC time...but I really hate missing these home games. My boys Barnett and Micah will both probably get playing time tomorrow night...and it's Scott Hall & Co.'s last game at Fouts Field. That sucks. Oh well.

Speaking of North Texas...Mean Green RB Jamario Thomas was featured on a FOXSports.com web poll titled "Who is your Heisman Trophy pick?". Leave it to the Mean Green fans to go nuts on the voting to where Super Jamario goes form having something like 2% of the votes to leading Heisman favorite Adrian Peterson by more than 6 percentage points. Then FOXSports.com decided to be dicks about it and take his name off of there since he doesn't fit into their BCS agenda. F--k the BCS. Bring on the playoff system!

I got recognized by some random person today at the grocery store. I was wearing my Red Sox hat (on the air I mention my love for the Sox and how I wear my hat all the time). I was in line and talking to someone and some old lady asked me if I was the guy from KGAF because she recognized my voice and my Red Sox hat...I felt so special. I'm a celebrity. Sweet! OK...maybe not.

I gotta work in the morning at 9 since I won't be doing my afternoon show from 2-5...and I've only cut vocals on all my ad spots. They shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to finish, but it's probably not the smartest thing I've done in a while. Eh, when have I ever done anything that was really thought out?

Really quick...I added the VidPick of the Day. I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep this since Grumby.com seems to be going down (therefore the codes are inaccessible right now) and it may be an annoyance to people visiting the blog. It shouldn't loop or anything, just once. Also, check out the hotlinks for new linkage including: KGAF-AM and a great college basketball blog by Yoni Cohen ('any relation to Sacha Baron?', I wonder...Jagshemash!).

Until next time..."I love your hair, support your local radio DJ (financially or with sexual favors are a good start), and Go Mean Green!".
