What a weekend...
After a long week of rockin' out to the greatness of classic country music while working the afternoon shift at 1580 KGAF-AM, I decided to treat myself to a weekend in beautiful Denton, Texas with the Crew.
I took off for Denton right after the Callisburg football game. North Texas was playing Louisana-Lafayette in the late game on ESPN 2, but I would up missing most of the telecast. Luckily, I had George Dunham and Hank Dickinson on 88.1 KNTU to bring me the action during the drive.
Got to Denton around 2315 or so...wound up meeting with Cody, Margee, and Barnett at Adrienne's. We watched the rest of the game, then headed out for Fry St. Went to Muther's because we thought Grant F--kin' Jones was playing there. Turns out it was Monkeyshyne, instead...so not quite as fun. Kelly got hit on repeatedly by an incredibly drunk man who was at least in his mid-forties. Hahahahaha! Me, Cody, and JB wandered over to Tavern where we bought a couple of shots. My shot of Jack had something in it. I think it was cigarette ash or something. Either way, I nearly puked when it hit my throat just out of reflex. You don't expect anything solid to hit your throat when your dropping shots.
After Tavern, we headed over to Sidebar to hunt down some 'friends'. 'Friends' meaning 'softball chicks'. They weren't there and we wound up leaving upon learning this...meaning we dropped a $2 cover for nothing really. Eh, oh well...you win some, you lose some.
Went back to the A-P-T-Dot with Cody and dozed off on the couch 'til about noon...woke up and watched Jason play Tiger Woods 2005 for Lamont only knows how long...then managed to doze off for another 2 hours. Hooray for sleepin'!
Woke up in time to go grab a bite to eat with Dearing. We wound up meeting Cullen at Chipotle, but it turns out that there's a new wing joint next door...so Cullen got a burrito and came next door where Dearing and I had managed to order 50 wings. Yes, we're a couple of overeating fatasses...
[sidenote: This was the first time I've met the famous Cullen and what can I say...? 'Cool chick' pretty much sums it up. I proposed to her at the basketball game for being close to perfect. It could have been the pre-game shots talking, though. I'm not sure if she said yes, though. I'm pretty sure it was 'No'... :)]
Me, Cody, Kevin, Dearing, and Koos (who we made get outta the shower and take his still wet and half-naked) all dropped a shot of Captain Morgan's before we headed out for the Super Pit and the first official night of The North Texas Pit Crew. Had a blast at the game! The team looks really good and Barnett got to start. To top it all off, we had a 20+ point lead towards the end of the game...so we started a "We Want Micah!" chant and sure enough, Coach Jones let him into the game. You shoulda heard us...you'd think we had just won the NCAA Tournament or something. :)
Hit up Taco Cabana after the game with the crew. Dropped Matty off at Kerr Hall so he could hit the hay...and we hit up the store for some alcoholic beverages. We got a bunch of beer and two 40's for myslelf in honor of those Notre Damers...and my homies, of course.
Went over to JC, drank hardcore for a few hours. Good times with the crew...minus Cody...wuss. Two 40's and something like 9 Miller High Lifes later, I was trying to sober up pretty quick. Luckily, someone made the call to go to Whataburger...food that cures all ills. Be it drunkeness, the flu, maybe even cancer...I swear by the bacon double Whataburger as a cure. And sure enough, a bacon double and some water made me sober as a goat.
Me and Kevin rolled back to the Fountains...I got my stuff and drove home at close to 0615 with a beautiful Texas sunrise coming up on my righthand side the whole way home. Now THAT is how you finish out a helluva a great night...watching the sun come up. I crawled into bed at 0700. Damn, I miss being able to do that every weekend. I've gotta do it again soon.
Thanks to Cody, Dearing, the Koos for putting me up...Margee, Kelly, Adrienne, Heather, and Barnett for the good times on Fry St....and Micah F'ing Bracy for getting into the game...Cullen and Drunky Holly for being hilarious and cracking me up. I needed a weekend like this. You all freakin' kick ass.
So, when you're done
Doing whatever,
And when you're
through
Doing whoever,
You know Denton County
Will be right here
waiting for you.
Amen.
