Well, well...how goes it. I guess I'm alive...but barely. OK..not really that bad...just sore as hell.
Started the new job with Anonymous Airways last week. I like it for the most part, but staying really late to finish up stuff that isn't really part of my job description has kinda got me irked. Hopefully, that will change soon...or they'll at least give us a little extra help on that night shift. The overtime pay will be nice...but the lack of sleep is making me a cranky boy. Putting in almost 50 hrs in 4 days will knock you on your ass.
Other than that...I've been enjoying the job. They haven't even bothered putting me inside at the ticket counter or gates. It's just been straight nothing but working the ramp. It's pretty damn easy, it's outside, and it's a little physical. I lost something close to 5 lbs. this week just working...and who knows what I could lose if I weren't living on a steady diet of chips from the breakroom vending machine and McDonalds up on the concourse. Damn terminal needs a Subway.
But yeah, the job is fun...but let me say a couple of things I request of those of you who travel on any airline.
1.) Please pack less than 70 lbs of crap in your suitcase. Sometimes the ticket counter people forget to put a "HEAVY" tag on these and we wind up straining ourselves when we don't know what we're lifting.
2.) The flight attendants come through the aircraft at least 3 times per flight to collect trash. Please use this time to throw away your goddamned trash and do not put your trash in the magazine seat pocket in front of you. This is disgusting and a pain in the ass for whoever may have to clean the aircraft.
3.) When traveling with small children, please don't let them spend the entire flight crushing and throwing cookies, pretzels, gum, etc. on the floor.
That's all for now as far as complaining about passengers.
Anyway, I guess I should backtrack and say...Atlanta sucks. The people there that I hung out with were cool....but in general...the people in ATL sucks. Rude ass people with serious attitude problems. Oh well, screw'em. I don't have to go back anytime soon unless I get some kind of promotion or something. Not counting on that happening.
North Texas basketball last night...another tough loss. This season's team had the talent...unfortunately, they lacked the personal discipline to do anything with it. Hopefully, they'll get their shit together before next weeks conference tourney.
Hit Fry St. last night...good times all around. Tavern had $2.50 blasters...that should tell you enough. Somewhere between the game and total drunkeness I decided it was a good idea to rip on Mo for the way she's been a total bitch about how she's handled what was a pretty good friendship... but I'll save that for tomorrow...The Big Mo Rant...you know you can't wait!
Right now, I've gotta finish doing some laundry, find food, and get my stuff together for work...I love toting around steel toes, knee pads, and earplugs everywhere I go.

Greetings from ATL
Got me a job with an airline. If you know me, you know which airline that is. But, after I got to thinking about the "Queen of Sky" debacle...where a Delta F/A was canned for blogging...I figured I should take down WHICH airline I work for on here.
Anyway...Anonymous Airlines flew me out to Atlanta (well now...that narrows things down) for training. I've been here for a week now. Got here last Sunday afternoon. It's now Sunday morning. We've been doing classroom training Mon.-Sat...lots of crap to remember. This week we do classroom on Monday, on-the-job at ATL Tuesday and Wednesday, our big final exam on Thursday, then working early morning on Fri. and Sat. on the ramp. I'll fly home on Saturday afternoon and start my new job on Monday. Hoorah! Finally employed!
I never knew how much I could miss home until yesterday when I realized I had a week to go here in ATL. I really miss North Texas. There's one guy here based out of DFW like me...and we talked last night about how much this place sucks compared to home.
The main difference? The people. Everyone here is rude and has an attitude. Like I told someone yesterday...I come from the land of "Yes Ma'am, No Sir, Please, Thank You, and Excuse Me". I'm not used to people having bad attitudes with you for no reason other than you're just standing there.
For example...we (my classmates and I) went out to the city last night...decided to check out CNN Center. While we were there, I decided to get a couple 5 piece nuggets from Wendy's (the first floor of CNN Center is like a food court). The lady that took my order seemed nice enough, but she was going off work right after she took my order. They didn't have 10 nuggets handy, so they had to cook some. She told me it would be 3 minutes. No worries, right? Then she leaves and I watch 7 people get their orders before me and I watch my bag with ONE order of nuggets sit there. I'm just standing there drinking my Diet Coke...waiting on my order...but being cool about it. Then one of the guys in my training class, Mike, walks up and asks about the fresh fruit bowl. The little advertisement on the front of the register says "Fresh Fruit Bowl and Cup". So he says, may I see the fruit cup. (I should mention that Mike is from the St. Lucian Islands, so he has a little accent. He was an airline rated pilot there and is coming to work for us to get his foot in the door with an airline in America while he trains to get his FAA transfer license...so he can fly in the US.) Anyway, the Wendy's employee pulls out the little fruit cup and Mike says, "No, no...I'm sorry, I meant the bowl." The Wendy's guy replies, in the rudest tone imaginable, "You said the cup...now this is the cup...now you sayin' you want the bowl?" and then rolls his eyes right at Mike. Mike just nicely says, "Yes, the bowl, I'm sorry.", buys the bowl and walks off.
At this point, I had been waiting for something like 6-8 minutes for my nuggets. After Mike walked away, the man behind the counter looks at me and says, again rudely, "What do you want?". I was fed up with the guy and his tone just made me snap. I fired back, "Well, I'd like to get the goddamn chicken nuggets I ordered almost ten minutes ago and, so help me God, if you get rude with me or another customer again while I stand here, I will see to it that not only do you lose your already shitty little job, but I'll also see to it that you recieve a nice-old-fashioned Texas ass whoopin'. I'm from Texas, where we treat our customers, and everyone else for that matter, with respect." The guy was flabbergasted. Couldn't believe that happened. Honestly, I have no clue where it cam from either. I just snapped. Everyone here acts like they're entitled to talk down to you and I can't take it. Ugghhh...
But yeah, I really miss home. I miss my friends more than anything. The training class folks are nice people from all over...but they're just not the crew.
It's amazing how one week away can bring you down. I miss the crew, I miss basketball games this week...hell, I just heard that I'm gonna miss Micah Effin' Bracy poster night, I miss poker night. Grrrrr...just one more week...just one more week.
Anyway...I'm out. I'm gonna study the afternoon away (reservation and check in systems are a pain in the ass)...so I have a little bit of time to do nothing today...and I will use that time. :)
Miss you all....can't wait to see you all next Saturday.
