Just a quickie...
Yesterday was such a good day...beautiful weather, I actually got things accomplished, and the boss gave me the day off to get some Christmas shopping done.
Got up early, took care of that little issue of needing to get my extremely expired car registration and inspection renewed... Got my ticket dismissed because of it. :)
While they were inspecting my car, the guys at Lube Works changed my oil, too. They pulled my air filter out and said that it had NEVER been changed. The ORIGINAL air filter was in my car...and my car is 7 years old. This pissed me off a little bit since I'd paid to have it replaced a few times at the other oil change place and they screwed me outta my 20 bucks. The good news is...my car idles like a champ now. ;)
All in all, it was a good productive day. I got dad, Jared, and Kalyn's presents taken care of. I know what I'm getting Courtney and the kids & Mo...I'm lost as far as mom goes, though. :-\ Oh well.
So, it's snowing like a motherfreaker out there today. I love it. I just wish it was was couple days after so with was a White Christmas.
I'm gonna hop a shower and see if I can find something for Mom...then work, work, work...

I LOVE Texas Weather!
So...let's see here...
Monday's weather: Sunny and 74 degrees...I wore short sleeves and flippies.
Yesterday: Sunny and 56 degrees...a light jacket got the job done.
Today: 29 freaking degrees and 2inches of snow on the ground.
I love Texas weather and it's "Day After Tomorrow"-esque mood swings.

Conversation of the Day....
Me: marriage or not...wouldn't giving you a U2 iPod and me getting your virginity technically make you a whore?
Kari Schmidt: hahaha, um..... no, cause you are not giving me money, you are giving me happiness cause U2 makes me so happy:-)
Me: ahhh, meeee too.
Kari: that is just my way of rationalizing that indeed I would be a whore
Me: LOL
Kari: but it sounds credible
Me: thatagirl
Kari: it's what Bono would want
Me: Bono wants us to buy things with his name on it and trade them for sex

Can you say "Most Beautiful Woman Alive"?
Can you say "Most Beautiful Woman Alive"? Miss Stacey Dash, ladies and gentlemen... she was in "Clueless" and most recently seen in the video for Kanye West's "All Falls Down". Let's all take a moment to enjoy this...

Thank you, Lord...thank you.
OK...so...moving on. I just had some on my Uncle's KILLER deer chili. Ohh man, it's been a boring day, but that made up for it.
I spent the day tidying up my mp3's into iTunes. It's kinda fun to get the collection all together and see what you have.
I think I'm gonna watch The Simpsons here in a few minutes then go for a jog. I haven't been on a good jog in over a week and I'm probably falling behing on "the bet".
Speaking of...it's almost 1900. I'm out!

I Might Be A Drunkard...
Wow...wheels off 24 hours or so.
Worked Friday night at KPFC. We broadcast a Callisburg High School girls basketball game....EXCITING! It went by pretty quick though since Chad was there to hang out. I was supposed to teach him how to run the studio end of things in case I'm not available (and to groom him to eventually replace me, I think)...but that kinda went to shit since all the computers had been zapped by a really big power surge not long before we got there. Damn the weak power grid at Camp Sweeney. So instead, we just hung out for about an hour and a half and talked music and radio crap.
I cruised through the Sweeney gates at 2125 and hauled tail to Valley View to my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jeff's place. They got a new HDTV and satellite setup...but they have no clue how to set that kind of stuff up. That's kinda my role in the family. Anytime someone get's a new toy...be it a camera or TV or computer...it's my job to be the tech support guy.
It took longer than I thought it would...but that was just because the new satellite reciever had to be setup and it had to download some firmware updates and stuff. The actually connection of gear took me a whopping 10 minutes. I left at 2330, but not until after being given 25 bucks and a brick of my uncle's badass deer chili. Ohhhh, I can't wait to tear into that.
Got to Denton at 0015, immediately jumped into Kev's Pathfinder and we headed to Muther's where Jeffe's 21st had already been in full effect for some time. My boy completed his first Fry St. Crawl and had to endure the shots me and Cody threw his way. He took it like a champ...even when he was puking behind the bar for aboot half an hour. That a kid!
On a related note...the boy knows how to choose them. I met Aubrey for the first time Friday night and all I can say is..."Way to go, Jeff!". She's a cutie for lack of a better word. :)
While we were at the bar, I had a couple of blasters, a shot or two of something else, a Guinness, and a huge Bud Light Draft. Unfortunately, I sobered up standing in the cold waiting on Jeff to quit puking and I was definitely in a drunky mood. So when we got back to The Fountains, I pulled my handle of our old friend Captain Mo outta the car and went to town. Mind you this was at 4am.
At 0520, I was about 9 shots and 2 beers deep...feeling super. Of course, I decide it's gonna be a great idea to call Maureen. It probably wasn't...but I enjoyed it nonetheless...nothing beats drunk dialing your favorite people. She probably didn't like it though...since I kept her up 'til close to 0715. I'm sorry, Mo!
I didn't roll off the couch until almost 1615 this afternoon...Cody got home not long after. Me, Cody, and Kev went to dinner at a little Chinese place in Corinth/Hickory Creek. Not bad, not bad at all. We went to the mall and hung out with Jeff at HatWorld for a little bit...went to Hastings after that. Apparently, no one in Denton, TX sells guitar capos. Since we're a major music school...I just don't get that. Oh well.
We wound up at Kev's apt. and wound up watching this week's South Park off the TiVo. Greatest. South Park. Ever. Most offensive, vile thing I've ever seen on Comedy Central...and I LOVED it. If you haven't seen it...you need to. It's the Woodland Critter Christmas episode. Such a classic.
Anywhos, I better hit the hay. I just spent about an hour inserting files and album art into iTunes. I'm hoping I get that iPod I want for Christmas...I'm not getting my hopes up, though. No offense to Mom or anything...because she has had to help me out on my car insurance lately...but Christmas presents just suck when you get older and have sucked the last few years. Everything I want is just much more expensive...and when you have a family like mine (one that isn't poor...but when there's me, 4 siblings if you count my steps, and my niece and nephew...the Christmas fund has to go a long way), you just don't really get what you want anymore. Oh well...no worries.
Thank you Boston! We'll see you next time!

It's just another day...
Yup...
So here I am..."working" at KGAF. Translation: I programmed the CD changer for 45 minutes of music...and I wander into the studio every couple of minutes to either run some ads or do a quick stopset. The on-air stuff has gotten quite easy. Not having things to talk about sometimes is a pain, but I get over. Somehow I manage to yammer without knowing what I'm saying. Not sure if that's good or what...
So....yesterday...a bit of a long day. Nothing bad or anything...just longer than usual for me. Had to be at KGAF at 8am for a 2 hour cover shift. In other words, I sat on my fat ass for about 2 hours and messed around online while some pre-recorded programming ran. I was just there for incase something freaked out. Not that I have any clue what I would have done if something DID freak out. Hahahha!
So I went home at around ten...fixed an ad spot that had some hot background music (that's hot as in "too loud", not hot as in what that whore Paris Hilton would say)...then took me a little mini-nap. I planned on just 15 minutes, but that turned into 30 minutes.
Mo stopped off in Gainesville on her way home to OKC to grab a bite to eat...so we hit up The Fried Pie on the square. I hadn't been there in ages. Good stuff. The potato soup rocked the camel's ass...and, since I love almost anything that's fried, the apple fried pie was possibly the highlight of my day. Uhh, except that whole eating lunch with Maureen thing...yeah, that's it. Felt like a bit of an asshole since I sat us at the table right next to the door and Mo had to endure cold air everytime someone walked in or out. Hahahaha...oh well. She'll get over it.
Went to work not long after that...actually had a decent conversation with Tom for once. It wasn't even really conversation...just shooting the shit with each other...throwing out each other's stupid voices. A real stupid conversation...but it really made me think for the first time that he doesn't hate me after all. He even complimented me on my production abilities. That meant alot coming from him.
Went to the North Texas basketball games last night. Good times, but some sitting in our section got a little outta control. I love them all, but some of the really offensive stuff has got to go. The girls hung with UTexas for most of the game...and the guys kicked Southern's asses. I haven't seen so many sick dunks in one game in a long time. Oh yeah, Micah Effin' Bracy got in the game! Not only that...but he scored two points! The first of his collegiate career! And I think he got a block, too! We'll try to ignore those 3 fouls in 3 minutes, though. Go Micah!
I was supposed to go to Abilene for David Hunt's wedding this weekend...I still hope to, but it doesn't look promising. I just can't trust my car to make a roadtrip anymore and I have to work a basketball game tonight...and with no one to ride with...it looks like I'm not gonna make it. Some of the Sweeney crew are coming in this weekend for head counselor meetings...so it'll be good to see some of them.
One last thing...it's Jeffe's 21st birthday! Somehow, I get the feeling he won't be sober tonight. ;) Can you say "Fry St. Crawl"?

Bad times, good times, great times...
Well...that sucked.
My Mean Green got thier asses handed to them by Southern Miss last night...31-10 was the final score. The Green were just dominated. Super Jamario Thomas was held to under 100 yds since...hell, since he became a starter. For a pretty funny perspective on the game...check out the Mean Eddie Blog.
We kicked off the night at Rudy's BBQ. BBQ ribs, beer, and North Texas football...is there anything more Texan? I mean, really... Hell, I even had some post-meal Copenhagen. Hell, I just needed some boots, a cowboy hat, and beat up dually pickup truck in the parking lot.
At the half we went over to Lori's place at Jefferson Commons and watched about 5 minutes of the game before Micah said, "Hey, let's go over to Chappy's". It was quite funny. Micah hadn't even got Brittiny's name outta his mouth before the Three Justins were on our feet and halfway out the door. A quite funny scene.
We went over to the building next door to the party...lots of beer...lots of cool people... Hoorah! We quit paying attention to the game about 7 minutes into the 2nd half and just put all of our concentration into drinking it up. Bad news was...I had a crap load of ad production to do that night. OH WELL! That had to be put on the backburner. I wound up taking shots left and right with Chappy. Not good. It was a good time had by most. Matty was a little bummed about some things...but we had a good talk (I think).
So we decided to leave not long after most of the crew did. Maureen wound up driving my car to Cody and Dearing's. This is a big, big deal. I never let anyone drive that embarrassing piece of shit. But it was a good call since I'd been drinking.
We all shot the shite at the A-P-T-Dot for a little bit...then we embarked on the best part of the night. Last year, we used to just go to Whataburger on Ft. Worth Drive and raise Hell. I don't think we'd done it as a crew all semester...but we did last night. I even gave in and had Robert and the folks at Whataburger make my monstrosity of a 'burger' that we've talked about making for almost a year now. It's called "The Dub Delight", named after me of course. It was a double cheeseburger with: eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, maple syrup, and instead of buns there were pancakes! It was insane. Even more insane...I ate the whole damn thing.
We busted out a great game of "Which dead person in the Dallas News obits would you sleep with?", had some great drunken moments...and had a great time altogether. I miss nights like that.
By 0300, I was sober and good to drive home. Took me about 30 minutes to get home (almost no one on the road to deal with)...even though I was texting with Maureen the whole way home.
I rolled in about 0330 and got to work on the ad production I was behind on about 0415. I finished up around 0600. Good ol' Mo, she stayed up and yapped with me until 0600.
She's such greatness. She's my favorite new buddy. I know I'm about to offend someone, but I've been without a real true chick friend I can just go off and tell everything since high school. Since Krystle. And I was more balanced then. Even though it's been a tumultuous few weeks that I've really known Mo...I really feel that balance for the first time since Krystle. I have great friends that are girls...but I've not felt that in a long time. It's something I can't explain...but it's a great thing. Hell, I've even had civilized conversations with mom lately...and that takes alot of balance for me to be able to do that.
Anywhos...I had better knock out these 2 or 3 ads I need to drop tonight. Gotta be at the office at 0800...grrr. I swear, I get jerked around so much sometimes. I probably get MORE crap to work on tomorrow. Yay! Speaking of KGAF, I got offered my own specialty music show on Saturday mornings. I'd love to take it...but I just see it conflicting with so much...so we'll see. I'll keep you posted.
Until next time, I'm Walter Cronkite...sit on it.

Weekend Update....
"Hi, everyone...I'm Norm McDonald and here's the fake news!"
Worked Friday night at Sweeney...had to rework all the schedules to have holiday music, jingles, liners, and ID's along with the current IVT settings. I redid the ID's and jingles to be part of a randomized multicut cart setup. Makes life easier for me in that department. I know most of you have no clue what I'm talking about. And I like it that way. It makes it sound like I do things at work.
Went to Denton from Sweeney...wound up playing poker with Justin, Miss Maureen, Alex, Lil' Matty, and Kelley. Well...Kelley was dealer. Matty went out first to Alex's four-of-a-kind aces...then Mo went down not long after that. Justin went out next and it was down to me and Alex heads up. After about 45 minutes of just going back and forth...we decided it wasn't a big enough amount of money to just keep playing for. There was $25 up for grabs...so we each took ten bucks and played one last all in hand for the last $5. I wound up winning with a freakin' pair of sixes. He had a straight draw, but didn't get that last card.
At that point, Lori had shown up, so she drove us to Whataburger. Nothing like visiting your latenight party headquarters and the host of said party, Robert Coonrod, at 5am. Spent the whole ride back to the apt. trying to say as many offensive things as I could to Lori. Unfortunately, she's quite un-offendable. Dropped dead on the couch once we hit the door...
Woke up around one in the afternoon or so...managed to crawl off the couch at almost 2. Around 4, Cody and I went and picked up Jeffe and crammed in Cody's truck down to Lewisville for some Panda Express. Orange chicken and fried rice...Mmmmmm. Everytime someone walked in the place, we joined in with the staff..."Hi!, Welcome to Panda!" Quite fun...
We went from there over to Shake's...Justin was working so we...uh, we paid... for some frozen custard. Yeah...that's it. We wound up sitting in the back room there and shooting the shite...that is until I found a Dallas newspaper with a Galyan's ad in it claiming to be having a big sale. So...me, Cody, and Jeffe hauled to Frisco to check it out...in hopes of finding some killer deals. Not so much. Jeffe picked up a Christmas present for someone and we wandered the mall for a couple of hours...but it was a pretty pointless trip. But it was fun times, nonetheless.
We got back to Denton around 2230 and dropped Jeffe off at his place...he was about to pass out. I sat there and picked my guitar for a little bit (I loaned out the acoustic to Jeffe so he can learn a little bit)...then we headed back to Cody's. At that point, I was tired for one reason or another...so I took a 10 minute power nap on the couch in between txt messages from random people...
I woke up from my power nap with my phone freaking out...the battery was almost dead...so I killed it and took it out to the car to charge it. Hopped online so I could talk to Maureen a little bit. We wound up talking for around 3 and a half hours. Honest to God...the best conversation I've had in a long time. I mean, I'm thankful the girl still talks to me after last weekend...
I guess I never covered that. It's really not worth covering. Last Sunday just wasn't so great. I'll leave it at that.
Anyway...great conversation...me and Maureen are gonna wind up great friends I can tell. Normally, I'd bitch about that...since that's how all my schoolboy-like crushes wind up...but this one seems different. Very cool girl...lots of fun to hang out with and very easy to talk to.
Wound up at IHOP not long after that with a few people...that was so random. Had a big omelet...I immediately regretted it. It was sooo good...and soooo fattening.
Got up this afternoon...spent over an hour looking for my keys. Turned out, I left them in Cody's truck and he put them inside the gas tank door when he left this morning. He's such a good friend like that. :)
I finally left the apt. and met up with crazy old Jerry Strader to give him the CD I had to record for him and the people at Denton Bible since they rented out Camp Sweeney for their Men's Retreat. Had some Arby's...mmm, Arby's...and afterwards I was going to head home. I reached for my cell to text Maureen to tell her I was heading back to Gainesville, but she had already sent me one asking if I wanted to watch a movie. I'm not one to pass up quality time with friends...and I'm not one to pass up an excellent opportunity to procrastinate...so I went to Blockbuster, picked up Dodgeball, and headed over to Mozart.
Just hung out, watched the movie (funny, but really kinda dumb), and shot the proverbial shite for a bit. Good times.
Came back to Gainesville...met up with Rocky....went to the casino to make fun of Shaun since he was working at the restaurant he manages in the casino. We got there and realized he'd gone home...so we just came back to town.
On the way home...Ernie called me in to Sweeney. I was gonna go...and just knock out my ad production there. However, I couldn't find my Sweeney keytags...so I just stayed in.
So here I am...no work done...but happy. ;) It was a good weekend.
I guess I had better hit the hay since I'm getting up at 0545 to knock out those ads in the morning...as well as hitting up tech support at Sweeney to fix a major computer glitch. Grrrr...
Night kids!

Forgive me LCpl. Compton...I must rant
We've got a couple of soldiers here that have served in Iraq. They're being interviewed right now by Big Tom. Let me preface by saying that I have the utmost respect for anyone that serves...my best friend and former roommate is in the Marine Corps. I don't have a problem with our soldiers or our military. I understand how much they sacrifice to protect our country. I just have a real problem with the way our government is handling this mess...and they way our troops aren't being given the supplies they need.
The whole project they've got us doing is collecting of things like socks, underwear, razors, toothbrushes and stuff like that. I have NO problem with sponsoring a soldier for the holidays. I have no real problem with the project we're sponsoring. Our soldiers deserve our praise and assistance for what they do.
The issue I have with it all is the fact that we shouldn't have to do this. Our government should be supplying our soldiers with the best gear. Not just the best weapons, but the vital things that they need. The simple things. I mean, hellfire...socks and underwear? I freakin' can't believe that our military can drop sixty-five million bucks on one fighter jet, a million bucks on a smart bomb, and issue thousands of dollars of weapons to each soldier...yet they can't supply our soldiers socks and underwear and some of the familiarites of home. I'm A-OK with us sponsoring this project. However, I just don't think it should have to fall on the shoulders of the regular American citizens to buy them everyday things that our military should supply.
I know these care packages bring smiles to the faces of our soldiers...I support that. I guess I'm just trying to say...our care packages should contain the real necessities...cigarettes, Playboy and Maxim magazines, candy and goodies like that. :)
Maybe none of that made any sense...maybe it's just the liberal in me that is just trying to find something to bitch about this war. I dunno.

Zombie!
So...tired. Couldn't make myself sleep worth a damn last night. Finally get to sleep around 0430. Woke up at 0830 or so. I need at least 6 hrs to function all day. This should be interesting.
I'm eating some kickin' oatmeal right now. I feel like I should have a pushbroom mustache. ;)
I wish I could be a damn hermit all day and get paid for it. I'm SO good at sitting on my ass all day, watching TV, surfing the internet for hours at a time, and occasionally getting up to pee...but only when absolutely necessary. I so don't get enough days like that.
Instead... I get to work on a project I don't entirely believe in due to my political stances, work an afternoon shift I'm not really feeling like doing, and head straight from there to Sweeney where I get to spend my evening revamping the entire system. Those 'revamps' take almost 7 hours. 9 when you factor in my ADD. And all I wanted to do tonight was get a beer or two on Fry.
But hey, Jesus loves me. So, it's all good. :)
Gotta shower and haul...have a good one kids.

Man, this world is screwed up.
The borderline-insane, unstable, semi-suicidal, heavy metal loving 13 year old in me weeps today. Dimebag Darrell of Pantera was shot and killed by some nutball with a gun at a club gig.
I wasn't a huge Pantera fan or anything...but they had a few songs I listened to alot when I was a depressed teenager. No matter...it still sucks that some moron feels like he has the right to walk in to a place where people are trying to have a great time and kill people. Only in America.
I seriously won't be surprised if this is some dude with serious mental problems claiming to be doing the work of God. Grrrr...I'd better stop there before I start writing for the rest of the day. I can go all day about people who claim to do things in the Lord's name.
I'm out. Rest In Peace, Dimebag. Your music got me through some rough times. And Rest In Peace to the others in that club whose lives were taken...you were taken too soon.

Sir Richard Branson Freakin' Rules!
Is there really any way to deny that Sir Richard Branson is the coolest man on the face of the Earth?
I mean, seriously, only Richard Branson can stand out on the wing of one of his many Boeing 747's or Airbus A-340's, surfboard in one hand and beautiful swimsuit-clad women on either side, and say "What now, Beeyotch?"

Precursor to The Super Happy Go Lucky Fun Time Blog Entry From Hell...
I'm working up my weekend recap. It wasn't so great. It had it's moments, but all in all...not so great. It's a good thing I'm a 'great guy' and all. :-(
Also, you'll notice that I'm listing my current weight and my current music now with every entry. It's really just to motivate me to get off my fat ass. I figure if you can see exactly what I'm weighing, that will inspire me to do something about it.
Went walking/jogging/running for about an hour tonight. I'm sore as hell already. Can't wait to get up and do it again. Hoorah.
Guess I'll catch you all later...when you get the actual Super Happy Go Lucky Fun Time Blog Entry From Hell...
--------------------------------------
Current Music: U2 - Fast Cars
Current Weight: something in the 250-260 range...I'll have exact figures later.

I Should Really Be In Bed...
Well...
It's been a pretty long week. I'm getting pretty bored with KGAF. I mean, it's a good gig and all...but playing the same old country music gets pretty boring...even though I like the stuff. I just get the feeling alot of times that Tom doesn't really like me at all and I think Shelly is starting to dislike me, too. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I really think it's because I know too much as far as how the radio station SHOULD operate and how I want to do things my way and they have their way. Of course, I have to do things their way. But sometimes it drives me insane. They're great people, though.
Later today is the big ass Pit Crew tailgate. I'm excited as hell. We've all put in alot of work on this thing...Cody and Kevin especially have been kicking ass. It's so cool that we were able to pull this off with no budget and less than 5 days of planning. We've got Five Times August and PhoolWay for entertainment and free food, too! We rule.
I'm feeling a little deflated right now. Don't really need to go into it here because too many people who are important to me read this...but I just feel like I'm experiencing the same ol' thing over and over again. That aspect of my life just sucks. It always winds up this way for me. Nothing I can do about it, though...
I shouldn't complain though. I've got alot of good things going on in my life. I have great friends and 2 great radio gigs that are putting me in a position to be where I wanna be in life. I'm just lonely right now. The holidays really do a number on me. Other than my grandparents, I sometimes I feel like I have no family and I hate not having 'someone' to share the holidays with. Because of this, I wind up being a hardcore grinch. I don't really HATE the holidays...I just...well...I guess I just hate the holidays when I don't have any real reason to like them.
I should just shut up now. I'm starting to sound like a whiney bitch. I'm really not a whiney bitch all the time...I just come across that way because I focus on the negative too much sometimes.
Hope to see some of you at the tailgate shindig tonight (Sat., Dec. 4th) at 5pm.
Until next time, this has been Justin Winters with your KPFC color weather radar forecast.
